Cub History

Hamilton Academical Women’s & Girl’s Football Club was established in 1992. The club was initially set up by Ian Steele, William Brown and the Fleming family, who set about creating a club for girls who wanted to play football, irrespective of their ability.

Today Hamilton Academicals Women’s & Girl’s FC have 6 teams playing in the League, ages range from U9’s, U11’s, U13’s, U15’s, U17’s, Ladies Reserves and Ladies Premier team.

The U9’s are part of the new academy set up and play in a 4 a-side non-competitive format, the U11’s play under the rules of ‘Fair Play’, which is also non-competitive, the U13’s play competitive (7 a side) and the U15’s to Premier Ladies play competitive 11 a side football. The Premier team have been part of the elite level of Scottish Women’s football since its inception.

All our coaching team are qualified to SFA Level 2 and above and are Protecting Vulnerable Groups (Disclosure Scotland) checked. The club would not be such a success without the help of its many volunteers, team managers and club officials who all give their time freely.
Hamilton Academicals Women’s & Girl’s FC became a Scottish Football Association Standard Quality Mark Club in 2010.

In order to develop the club and take it to the next level and attain the SFA Development Quality Mark further work is being done to bring more volunteers into the Club.
