It’s been a quiet week on the pitch as all the Accies teams take some time off during the mid-season break, however there are still successes abound across the Accies spectrum as the club expands its ever-growing list of International Representatives.
For the upcoming Scotland Under 19 Training Camp, regular attenders Megan Cunningham and Kirsten McGuire are joined by Carolina Richardson (who moves up from Under 17s) and Cara McBrearty who will join the National Youth setup at camp for the first time. Cara has been virtually ever present for the SWPL side this season and Manager Kevin Murphy is particularly proud of the young left sider.

“Cara has been great this season, and we’ve known about her quality for many years as she has come all the way through the youth ranks and it’s fantastic to see our Youth setup get recognised via her performances. She may have some competition in years to come as her younger sister is also playing for our Under 15s! Joking aside, she has been excellent. She has been a regular attender over the years at Regional Squads and Performance Centres and we are all very proud of her.”
Accies as a club can be just as proud of their own young manager, as Kevin is having a busy year. Having recently undertaken his UEFA A Licence with a large field of ex-pros down at Largs, he is also joining the National Youth Teams as Assistant Coach to Shelley Kerr at the Under 19s.
“It has been a full and busy year for me as an individual and a Manager. We had a full preseason and the regular season is of course busy anyway as we train 4 nights plus I coach Regional Squads as well! The A Licence was a fantastic experience both in learning and networking and I’m looking forward to the Assessment already in 2013. However joining the National setup is the pinnacle of my football involvement so far, I’m really looking forward to supporting Shelley and the players in the future.”
Kevin joins Head of Sport Science Mark McKenna and Goalkeeping Coach Lindsay Hamilton in joining the National Youth Setups. As a club, we are delighted to see both players and coaches get recognition for their hard work and efforts.
